Instructions

In order to complete your application correctly, you have to read these instructions carefully! Before you can begin your online application you have to confirm that you did carefully read and understand the instructions in this document.

 

Target group

Your target group is the group of students/academic staff having the same characteristics regarding the institution/country of origin and/or personal situation. It is very important for the further processing of your application to provide us with your correct target group! The following diagram may help you to determine your correct target group.

Please note that depending on your target group you can only apply for the mobility types indicated in the following table.

Study field

Before filling in your preferences regarding your host university and study field, first follow the link below. The information on the website summarizes the available study possibilities at each host university and, most importantly, the language in which the courses are given. In some cases you can find the specific website addresses to find more detailed information about the study programs.

Please be aware that you should only apply for a study field of which you master the language sufficiently to follow the courses! And off course this study field (study program) should also be equivalent to your current or previous study program.

Mobility type

You should possess a diploma at the moment the mobility starts, which grants you access to the specified mobility type. An overview of the requirements for each mobility type can be found in the table below.

 Proficiency in English

You are required to have a sufficient proficiency in English to be allowed to apply for the programme. Unless you are a native English speaker, you need to pass at least one of the following two criteria:

 1. You must submit one of the following as proof of English:

  • An original Academic IELTS score
  • TOEFL scores (paper-based), (computer-based) or (Internet-based).
  • English test score BILIM (pseudo-TOEFL test)*

In the online application form you will see the minimum required scores of these Eglish proficiency tests. Depending on your score and the academic quality of all applicants at the host university of your preference, the will decide whether this score is sufficient to be admitted. More information about the local admission requirements per university can either be found on the website of the host university or you can contact this host university. The TOEFL, IELTS or BILIM test results may not be older then 2 years.

2. Students who have conducted at least three years of higher education or their entire secondary and higher education in the English language are exempted from these language tests, but are required to send proof of proficiency in the form of either:

  • A copy of your diploma or list of subjects showing clearly that the first medium of instruction was English;
  • An original or certified copy of an official letter or statement from the educational institution of your previous or current education. This letter/statement should be printed on official letter-headed paper of the school or university and state clearly the name and date of birth of the student, and that the entire previous or current education was/is conducted in English as the first medium of instruction.

 *Applicants of Erasmus Mundus ECW lot 9 also have the possibility to take a pseudo-TOEFL test at BILIM. Information about BILIM and the possibilities of this English language test possibility can be found on the website: http://eac.bilim.kz

References

We will consult the references you specify in your application. It is therefore important to give the correct and total contact data of your references. Required are: name, institution, email, address, and phone number. Please remember that you are obliged to fill in at least one reference!

Motivation

It is essential that you fill in a motivation statement as these statements are used in determining your potential for a scholarship. In this statement you could answer the following question: “In what way will participation in this mobility benefit you and your country?”

Resume

After your application is found to be eligible, you are required to send us a copy of your resume. This resume should be short, but complete. An example resume can be found on the website.

Submission of the online registration form

After you have submitted your online registration form you will receive a confirmation email. In this email you are requested to finalize your online registration by using and clicking on the link mentioned. Please do not forget to do so in order to submit your data into the online date system.

Uploading of admission documents

As of this new round it is possible to upload all the necessary admission documents. You can do so already during the process filling in your online application form.

In the confirmation mail you will receive, after the submission of your online registration form, you will also find a link to an secured web environment in which it is possible for you to upload the admission documents as well. So in case you are not able to already upload all documents during filling in the online application form you can do it ONCE in a later stage by using the link the confirmation mail.

All hard copies (and originals) of your admission documents has to be send to the office of the coordinator of lot 9 at the following address. Admission documents should be received no later than mid February 2010.

Selection and information about the selection results

After the closing of the online registration possibility all applications and received documents of the candidates will be checked on eligibility. Based on the quality of all applicants, the host universities will rank all candidates. This will take about 6 to 8 weeks. Final selection results will be communicated as of end of August 2009.
